Issue #2

This month I am working on reviewing a book titled "Broken Borders" written by Ayisha Blevins. I just started reading this book but I can honestly say that I have found this book to be interesting. I will have the completed review posted in my next news article. If this book continues to hold my interest (I believe that it will), I will list the book on my Amazon bookstore site. The books that are listed at my Amazon bookstore are personally hand picked. I am very slective when it comes to what is listed on the site.

"Growing with Joe" update

I am sad to say that only one book so far this year was sold. However, I am still going to strive to reach my goal of 200 copies sold in 2008. I am currently scheduling booksignings for the summer months.

 Autism Update:

Because this article is not only about various authors and their readers but also it is a tool for me to reach out to the public, on various issues. Since my book "Growing with Joe" is about raising a child that has Autism, Cerebral Palsy and White Matter Disease, I will be dedicating a section of this article to help keep parents that are also raising special needs children informed and educated.

Legislature backs plan to insure kids with autism

The Arizona Republic
Mar. 18, 2008

Families in Arizona with autistic children are set to be among the first in the country to have expensive cutting-edge autism therapy covered by private health- and disability-insurance plans.

After weeks of grass-roots lobbying by parents and emotional committee testimony, lawmakers have approved one of the first insurance mandates of its kind in the nation.

The bill blocks insurance companies from denying coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of autism, including coverage for behavioral therapy, which can cost tens of thousands of dollars a year.
